Correction notes help keep these pages accurate. This page explains a useful method for checking a passage and recording what you find, so a note can be specific and easy to verify.

Checking a Passage

Start with the sentence you doubt. Find the source it rests on, such as a public agency page, a monitoring dataset, a chart reference or a published document. Read the source directly and compare its wording, date and units with the article. Bay conditions and rules change, so note the date of the source you checked and whether it is the current version.

Recording the Discrepancy

Write down four things: the article title, its slug or URL, the exact sentence or paragraph, and the source you compared it against. Add a short note on what differs, for example a changed number, a missing qualifier or an outdated date. Keep your note with a link or citation so the comparison is easy to repeat.

What Helps Most

Precise, checkable notes are the most useful. If your note concerns a fishing rule, limit or season date, include the current official agency page that states it. If it concerns water chemistry, include the dataset and its collection date. Keep the note factual and limited to the passage in question.
