She was born February 22, 1936 in Hersey the daughter of Hazel L. Carter. Gloria grew up in Hersey and during her youth worked at The Osceola Inn in Reed City. She married Don Patterson on July 17, 1954 and together they made their home in Reed City. Gloria joined her husband in his Floral Business where she worked for many years and was affectionately known as the "Corsage Queen." She was a longtime member and supporter of the Reed City United Methodist Church. Gloria had a sharp wit and knew how to deliver a good one-liner. Earl served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Cold War in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam wars. He retired as a Staff Sergeant after 28 years of service. Earl enjoyed the outdoors: fishing, hunting, and long-range target shooting (1,000 yards with open sights). He looked forward to traveling, especially on his motorcycle.
